The Midwest Eye Opener™ was designed to eliminate driver safety concerns, decrease loading time and provide a road tanker with a cost effective alternative to manually opened hatches.

For a terminal to construct (2) hatch station structures, one at the entrance to the scale and another at the exit is costly and does not guarantee driver safety. Anytime a driver is forced to leave the cab of the truck, a potential safety risk is taken.

The driver friendly Eye Opener™ needs only a finger touch on the driver's console and the hatch is open. During the opening and closing process a beeper safety signal informs anyone near the vehicle that a moving device has been activated. Two high intensity lights on the Eye Opener™ cab enclosure inform the driver if the hatch is fully open or fully closed.

Each Eye Opener™ retrofit kit contains all the parts to make the installation complete. Two types of control are availabe, hard wired into the cab with the enclosure attached to a convenient location which signals the hatch to open or close or a radio controlled hand held wireless transmitter can be used.

The hatch cover is a heavy machined aluminum casting with a robust 1" hinge. The electrically driven motor takes less than six seconds to fully open and fully close the hatch cover. The seal has a polyurethane base with a 30 shore A durameter. The polyurethane is poured directly within the casting to ensure that all points on the hatch are sealed at all times. When closed it is sealed to accept 45 PSI of unloading pressurization. When opened a special pivot point on the arm allows any withheld pressure to exit the tank without harming any of the mechanical parts. This is an automatic feature that occurs on every opening.
