PAL™ Human Machine Interface (HMI), interfaces the driver with the selfserve terminals computerized loading system. Midwest's HMI screens can be customized to fit the end users needs. The HMI, designed to work in conjuction with the terminal PLC, has the ability to display a variety of infromation depending on the terminal's budget. From a simple order entry and load out screen to a complete list of remote functions, the HMI remains an easy solution for drivers to operate the loadout properly.
The signals from the HMI inform the terminal PLC to take action. Midwest PAL™ also receives a signal from the HMI and begins the automated search pattern. A wireless input device is used by the driver in order to control the HMI. This remote controlled device takes the place of the computer's mouse and keyboard allowing the driver to navigate through the HMI from inside the truck cab.
Midwest's unique remote controls provide an inexpensive solution for data input. The remote sends infrared signals which can be detected through glass allowing the driver to operate without having to power the window. The remote has a maximum range of 35 feet allowing some flexibility in the location of the HMI's flat screen panel. Various buttons located on the remote controls can be programmed to have automatic functions minimizing time spent in navigating through the HMI enviroment.
Programming of the HMI can consist of many alternatives. The driver can be prompted to enter all sales information including type of cement and weight of load or the driver can be prompted to simply enter the customer order number which automatically pulls up all the necessary sales information. The driver would then be prompted to load, where the Midwest PAL™ system takes over. After completion of the loading, the HMI will prompt the driver that loading is successfully completed.
The Midwest HMI is built with simplicity in mind. Large icons and auto prompting eliminate confusion allowing the driver to get the truck in and out faster than ever before.
