Designed for bolting to the bottom of a silo or hopper this gate is only 2” thick and should be used only in an emergency should the operating valve or gate below malfunction or need to be removed for maintenance. The Xtrathin™ emergency hammer gate is not to be used with silo or hopper aeration above 5 psig. In an emergency the gate blade must be hammered shut. To open the gate after repairs or replacement of the operating valve or gate have been made the hammer gate blade needs to be physically pulled out of the product flow area by using a Comealong™ horizontal chain or cable device by placing the hook in the hole provided in the hammer gate blade. The blade includes a roll pin to eliminate the possibility of the blade being pulled completely out of the gate frame. After the gate blade is fully opened and the operating valve or gate is closed and before aeration air is reintroduced into the silo, the hammer gate blade should be caulked both top and bottom with silicone caulking. If time permits this should be done 24 hours before aerating the silo. Refer to Xtrathin™ Hammer Gate drawing for standard sizes available. Consult factory for sizes other than standard. |
